Tucson, Arizona rencontre Versailles, Yvelines

Last Saturday I had the immense pleasure of meeting T. Becque of Tucson, Arizona who is visiting France with her lovely son and her equally lovely mother-in-law. We had crêpes and cider for lunch and took a loooooong photographic walk through the city and palace gardens. Check out Thoughts in Images here and gorgeous art here. I had a wonderful time!

Lovely pasta on sale in old Versailles street in a house that was built by Charles Perrault in 1681. Perrault worked under Colbert, the powerful finance minister of Louis XIV. You might know him better as the author of fairy tales transcribed from French folk tales, such as Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella or Puss in Boots to name but a few...

As seen in a shop window rue de Satory. Still no luck with Blogger's comment issues. Some of you have changed their settings to pop-up windows and I was glad to be able to visit your blogs again. On those of your blogs who don't have pop-up windows I still can't comment, sorry.

Another one of those lovely scenes in Saint-Louis neibourhood. The St-Louis independent shop owners have a fun blog to check out (in French): Les Triplettes de Saint-Louis. Like many other people, I still can't comment on those of your blogs that don't have pop-up comment windows and apologise for my absence, sorry Cezar and Léia, Jack, Doug, Birdman, SRQ... and so many others.

Lunch at Le Grand Couvert. Perfectly cooked salmon and seabass, an assortment of puds to die for: chocolate profiterole with real melted chocolate, not some thing out of a tube, pain perdu made with brioche (Wikipedia says French toast is a traditional Christmas dish, that's a first for me, my gran did it all year round...) and tarte tatin revisited.

Montage

An exhibition in the making: I saw this in front of the palace coming home around 21:00 yesterday evening... All I can say for now is that looks rusty and that it will be one of the exhibits of the upcoming Bernar Venet exhibition.

Vu hier soir place d'armes...

A lot of shops are closing down in Saint-Louis neighbourhood, more's the pity as they are independent shops. One of my favourites, which I showed you here and here, has already closed. Now 'Jeux de Perles', or 'Pearl games' is about to close. Check out Stéphanie's wonderful stuff until June 25. Her lovely blog can be seen here.
